Charlotte Lucia Rohs
Mutti has gone.
In other words, my paternal grandmother, Charlotte Lucia Rohs, passed away on Monday 22 May 2006 at approximately 1:30 am, at Nazareth House Catholic rest home in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Born on 4 April 1920 in Wien, Austria, she was a lover of her homeland and the Austrian dialect of German.
Mutti was a generous woman, full of spirit and vigour, and had a strong will.
She cared for her children and grandchildren, and loved to share her life story with them and others.
When I was little, she used to babysit my brother and I, and made us 'face to the wall' when we went to bed, so that we would get to sleep faster.
She was a devout Catholic and loved God.
Mutti was an excellent cook and made the most scrummy goulash.
What else can I write? I could go for pages about how much she meant to so many people.
She will be missed. Greatly.
