Impressions of Singapore
Yesterday was a pretty full-on day. I feel that I am well-adjusting to Asia already. It's not the same as New Zealand though. Some of my thoughts ...
1. There are so many people. Where do they all come from? Everywhere you go, there they are! At the metro train stations, there are literally floods of people, mostly with black hair, streaming up and down escalators, on and off trains ... I can see why people say that New Zealand is quiet.
2. Most of the public toilets flush automatically, sometimes while you're still sitting on the seat!
3. It is a mix of old and new, east and west. Singapore is multi-ethnic and so multi-cultural, and apparently people mix up all their languages, which are mainly English, Mandarin, Tamil and Malay.
4. There are hardly any internet cafes, because most people have computers at home. I discovered this yesterday after more than 1/2 an hour of searching for somewhere to do email.
5. Food is really good! No potato, meat & 3 veggies here! Yay for rice :)
6. My sesssion is just about up. I'll be in China in 5 hours! How can you explain that?
